Moore Campaign Asks Why Doug Jones Supports DACA and Opposes the Border Wall

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – On Friday, the Moore Campaign released the second of 12 Christmas questions for Doug Jones.

In light of the tragic not-guilty verdict for Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, the illegal immigrant who murdered Kate Steinle, why do you oppose securing the border and support DACA and other amnesty measures that will attract more illegal immigrants?

Doug Jones has been an outspoken opponent of building a wall to secure our border and he has consistently supported DACA, the DREAM Act, and other amnesty measures that will only encourage more illegal immigration. On the tragic ruling in yesterday’s murder trial of illegal immigrant Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, Jones has said nothing. Zarate is a felon who had been deported from the United States five times before he fatally shot Kate Steinle in the back in 2015.

We strongly support the following statement made by United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions: "When jurisdictions choose to return criminal aliens to the streets rather than turning them over to federal immigration authorities, they put the public's safety at risk. San Francisco's decision to protect criminal aliens led to the preventable and heartbreaking death of Kate Steinle. I urge the leaders of the nation's communities to reflect on the outcome of this case and consider carefully the harm they are doing to their citizens by refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement officers."

Commenting on yesterday's ruling, Judge Roy Moore released the following statement: "Yesterday's outrageous ruling was a complete travesty of justice and a shameful admission that San Francisco cares more for criminal aliens than they do for innocent American women and until Congress moves to crack down on sanctuary cities, illegal immigrantion, and border security, no American can be safe.

"I am thankful for the strong leadership of President Trump," Moore continued, "and as your next United States senator, rest assured that I will do all within my power to secure our border, build the border wall, put an immediate end to so-called 'sanctuary cities' that put Americans at risk, strongly oppose all amnesty including DACA and the DREAM Act, and work to pass Kate's Law to crack down on criminal illegals like Zarate who unlawfully return to our country.

"My opponent supports amnesty and has stated that he sees no need for a border wall and has said nothing about sanctuary cities. His election would be a threat to the safety and well-being of the people of Alabama and the United States at large."
